On Monday, Forbes revealed that Russian energy major Gazprom came in as the biggest investor in Russia for the second consecutive year.

By capital expenditure, Gazprom bested Russia’s 30 largest companies, following almost $26 billion in investments made last year. The outlet noted that in 2021, the energy giant invested nearly $23 billion

Russian oil major Rosneft made the top three, with $12.7 billion in investments. Rounding out the top three was a subsidiary of the nuclear energy firm Rosatom, Atomenergoprom, which invested $8.8 billion.

Coming in next on the list was natural gas producer Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 energy project, with $3.8 billion in investments.

Norilsk Nickel, the Russian mining giant, filled out the top five at $3.2 billion.

This was the second ranking by Forbes of the top investor companies in Russia. Forbes noted that when calculating investment capital, it combines spending on fixed assets and intangible assets, investments in joint ventures, and the costs of acquisitions of other companies.
