On Thursday, Guidewire Software Inc. (GWRE) reported a $27.1 million loss for its first fiscal quarter.

The San Mateo, California based software company said it had a loss of 33 cents, on a per-share basis. On a per-share basis, earnings came in at less than 1 cent.

A survey of analysts drawn up by Zacks Investment Research had predicted a loss of 17 cents per share on average.

The company, which supplies the insurance industry with software, posted revenues of $207.4 million over the period, which was in excess of Street forecasts. A survey by Zacks of five analysts had predicted revenues would come in at $201 million.

Guidewire software said that for the current quarter, which ends in January, it forecasts revenues coming in within a range of $236 million to $243 million.

The company predicts full-year revenue will come in within a range of $976 million to $986 million.
